Hi Everyone,

I've been working on upgrading my kit and decided that I'd like to go with a lovely tablet woven girdle. So lacking the skills to do it myself, I contracted with Gina to weave one for me and as you'll note, she does FANTASTIC work!

Here are some baby pictures:

Detail

This belt is based on the checkerboard pattern of Isabella of Portugals. The silk is a beautiful red which is quite different from how the red displays due to the flash. When the buckle is made, it will be stunning.

The belt is 5.4cm wide x 1.2 meters long.

Enjoy!

Thanks for sending the pictures Gina. I Love it!

Jenn

Girdle portion of the project is complete. Now all I have to do is get the buckle underway.

I've been remiss on my own site. Here's the buckle in silver and then followed up in its gilt form.

Hi Dan,

I'm not sure which of the craftsmen that Przemyslaw works with was responsible for the actual work. It looks to me like some of it was hand done and other aspects of it were cast.

Wow, truly stunning. This will be a very nice addition to your kit. I've always felt that it is these small touches that set a kit apart. Looking forward to seeing it mounted.

Best,

Me too. Hopefully it will be here in the next two weeks.

It is in the details.

You should see the jacks that just came in from Matuls!

The design of the belt is based on a portrait of Isabel of Portugal.
