Hi All --
I attended several days of Bob Charron's workshops a few years back, and found them extremely interesting, informative, and enjoyable. I've been looking forward to the publication of his book, but I can't find it on the Chivalry Bookshelf.
Can anybody shed any light on what is or isn't happening with regards to his book on Fiori dei Liberi?
ANy info is appreciated
-- Kent

I've been waiting for Bob's book for almost a decade now. I'm not holding my breath.
Tom Leoni has just published a full translation of the Getty MS. You can buy it from Lulu: http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-book/fiore-de-liberis-fior-di-battaglia/7344691

Actually got a note back from Bob, he's finished the translation and has a few other things like appendices to set up and thinks it will be a few more months.

Two years ago, at WMAW, Bob assured me that it would be out by Christmas.

Perhaps now that the main work/translation is finished it shouldn't be long now.

Reworking is part of the process and it seems at times there are a lot of works that are rushed out the door to be the first, but not necessarily the best.

I'm hoping that this time it is out by Christmas. I have the Italian work with the Getty plates, but English is so much easier for me.

Apparently Tom's version is already seeing corrections required.

A few years ago, Christian Tobler told me that his first book, Secrets of German Medieval Swordsmanship, could do with some reworking in a couple of his interpretations,. This was shortly after it was printed. I guess most interpreters find new interpretations as they go over their material, even after the 100th time!
I'll be buying Bob's book, whenever it comes out, the same as I do Christian's -- their work is exhaustive, functional, and just a lot of fun to try out.
