Hi all,

I am looking to get a more official head count. We were expecting some people but I no longer know if they or others in their party are coming.

So if you still are, just post yes here.

Official Calais Event Details

Thanks,

Jenn

My plan is to be there, but I am in about to lose job, interviewing for new jobs mode right now. As long as what ever new job I get has no problem letting me off I am there.

Yes.

Linen canvas sack for matress (straw stuffing): $8
Massive canvas tarpaulin for groundcloth: $55
Not finding wolf spiders in your sleeping bag: priceless

I understand that the one dinner will be potluck. Are there any plans for the other meals? I'd be willing to organize breakfast/lunch/snacks, if there is interest.

I'll be there thats 100% sure now.

I'm still going to need a bit of help with my soft kit...

What I currently have:
turnshoes
braies
metal tiped points
St. Louis style shirt
Fourth Armoury Haubergeon
Lewis Moore Salade (need to make a liner though).

I;m working on getting a sword, but need a decent one so this may take a bit longer than I thought initally.

So far, I've had a lot of offers for help which I appreciate, it's making the transition from my SCA mindset to the LH mindset a lot easier.

Hey Evil Merlin,

Welcome to the FS board.

I think we've probably got you covered. Jeff Johnson has an "Incredible" pile o' stuff.

We have a few swords and pole arms ourselves.
Do you have a tent or will you need "crash space"?

I promised Bill (EM) that Jeff and I would bring up gear for him and clothes. I am also 99% sure I will make it so I will write a check for you guys tonight.

We are going to bring my tent so there will be room for a few people if they need a place to crash.

What is the plan on food? You have mentioned something about bring $10, it would be great if we could avoid needing a cooler for the trip.

James

Hi James,

I just need to know whether you're bringing food or not. If you don't want to drag a cooler and the food, that cool, just sing out so that Nikki and I can plan and buy the appropriate provisions to meet the needs of the "campers".

Great Bill, I'll keep an eye out for it.

Well then Jenn put Jeff and I down as loafers not bringing food. We are trying to keep our load size down because we don’t have a trailer just my mid-sized SUV.

Also I put a check in the mail this morning. The site looks great and I look forward to the event.

Jeff/James, let me know if you'd like me to send you my Refined Boston/DC Driving Route, with pointers to the cheapest available gas stations and fine eating establishments (cheap & fast), crafted over 20+ round trips in the past 5 years. I usually make it from Boston to DC (or back again) in 8 hours or less, and a bit less than one tank of gas (on my 40+ mpg Jetta); the site is probably about 30-45 minutes closer than Boston.

The tentative menu is:

Saturday.
Breakfast: wheat frumenty and/or rice pottage
sausages: chicken and pork

Lunch: pork roast with choice of sauce (yellow pepper and cameline), bread, cheese, salad of greens, elderflower cheesecake

snack: experimental pretzels

Sunday.
Breakfast: bacon, 15th century style french toast (lost bread and brown fries)

Lunch: roasted poultry with optional sauce, roasted onion salad, cheese, bread, gingerbread or maybe some kind of fruit thing
