as taught by Thomas Page in his manual of 1746.

We been asked to teach a introductory class by Eric Slyter of the Arador Armour Library & and of The Knights of Veritas Swordplay Academy. It seems that we host one of the few study groups in Page in the U.S. at this time. (We been working with Page for about 2 years now).

Both Rick and I have had the pleasue of working with Paul Wagner of the of Stoccata School of Defence on interpreting Thomas Page's material this last summer.

We will be covering the basics of stance, distance, timing, footwork, guards, and building up from there with Page's methods of the Broadsword ( and a bunch of tricky little ways of ending a sword fight fast. )

The best part is... if you work with us, you can have the polish put on by Paul Wagner when he tours the US next!

Here is the basic info:

The Knights of Veritas Swordplay Academy is pleased to bring out noted Scottish living historians and swordsmanship instructors David Teague and Rick Ford of The Highland Recrudescence Guild for a weekend of introductory work with Thomas Page's 1746 treatise on basket-hilted broadsword and targe.

Page's manuscript, while written in the 1700's, is very medieval in style and this well-documented tradition has been referenced by those attempting to re-create an authentic form of medieval shield fighting. This workshop is sure to enhance the combatant's understanding of effective shield usage, no matter the era and style.
