Details: OLR was founded by a group of experienced re enactors who were rather disillusioned with the prevailing attitudes prevalent in the re enactment community. Our primary focus is on the presentation of tournaments at public festivals. Our aim is to present a synthesis of martial skills, theatre and historical research that is professional, entertaining and accurate- in essence to bring history alive and make it exciting for the viewer.
Whilst we do not classify ourselves as a ‘living history’ group the group strives for a high standard in its reconstructions and presentations. At present the group numbers about 65 members and performs in front of approx 25-30 000 people per year. The persona’s in the group are fictitious and represent ladies, knights, gentlemen of coat armour and their attendants at a small tournament held towards the end of the C14th. We welcome contact from our other groups and individuals and hope to have much better website, more members, more music and dance, bigger tournaments, nicer encampment, shinier harness, better behaved horses, dogs and squires etc , etc…… sometime in the foreseeable future.
