Last week a large number of British and European riders took part in the Valencia Parade, in Spain. This was a very well funded affair, with the British riders provided by Mark Griffin Historical. I was lucky enough to be one of them. I thought some of you may like to see a little of the event, some pictures can be found on

I am not good at steering this computer, but I hope that will get you to the right place. There is a "where's Waldo " moment, for any of you who would like to try to spot the cheesy grin on the light cavalry person in the background in one of the shots- that's me having a fantastic time at a totally surreal event.

Have tried really hard to get this link to work, someone who can drive one of these may get to it on a search engine. Sorry if my base level incompetence has wasted your time
Better with a lathe and a bandsaw than a computer. Going to console myself in the workshop now.

Thank you Dudicus, new links which actually explained a little more to me about just why we were there...my Spanish is very poor, and all previous reports were in Spanish.

It was a blast! Just a shame it was raining.

Btw, your sentence is a nice example of the typical British island mentality of Brits vs 'Europe' aka 'the continent'. On the mainland everybody just includes Britain when talking about the continent of Europe while you exclude yourselves.

Still living on the glories of Empire...
There is a channel between " us and them"
and they speak funny, lovely people, but definitely Continental ( it costs us a fortune to go to their events 'cos we've got to cross the water.)
I think the British secretly suspect Continental folk of having more fun and not wanting us in their club, so we pretend we don't want to join anyway. Apart from which we can't even be sure we are a united force- ask the other countries in our little continent. Wales, Scotland and Ireland want to keep identity clear and separate too.

Well we've got the same seperateness on this side of the moat too, maybe even more since languages differ. Throwing us all together on one big continental heap is like saying Spaniards are the same as Danish .
Anyway, travelling costs money wherever you are. If you happen to be living in Kent you're probably cheaper off traveling to Agincourt than we are in the Netherlands, for example.
How are we having more fun? I thought the UK late medieval scene was as vibrant, or even more, than the one in the Low Countries is. With Bosworth, Tewkesbury and all those big gatherings.

I don't know that you are having more fun, just that most British people have a sneaking suspicion that you are...
I agree all traveling is getting seriously expensive, but I'm still itching to explore a bit more of the reenacting scene in the states, and in the rest of Europe.
Agincourt sounds fun, and so do lots more places - need an excuse, or a lottery win. Peevishly I am not entering the lottery until my divorce comes through, then I won't have to pay the ex and the other woman half of my enormous winnings ( I wish).
