Hi all, I am new here, I quite like this forum thought I would just say.

Anyway to the question at hand,

My son and I have just started jousting, I read a post on here which was refereing to the amount of training Rod does which I would assume would be a fair bit being the level he is. Love your work Rod.
How much training does one do for jousting and what techniques can be practiced to gain skill.

also can anyone help me out with the correct measurement for training equiptment as I will have some stands and a tilt made so we can practice at home.

just for further reference for people, we live in QLD Australia

Hi Lilliana,

Have you contacted the International Jousting Association? www.worldjousting.com

There are a fair number of folks in Australia; Brisbane and some folks from NSW. Several are currently in Europe at an event, but when they get back they can probably help you really get started with the basics and where to find equipment or show you how to make it.

If you were in the States, I'd point you to Jeff Hedgecock who runs a "knight school" in California, he's been on the international circuit at such venues as Van da Haar, Leeds, and other international sites. He might be able to give you some tips on training exercises to improve timing and carriage and basic equipment that you will need, but their ramping up for Pennsic here in the US so it's a very busy time for him.
