I think I am putting this in the horse tips thing but that is where I want it.

Here is something that maybe of interest. How many times have you heard someone say 'my horse doesn't like following as he always puts his ears back and only puts them forward when in the front'

The reason why this happens is not because that he is fed up,it is to with listening for predators. The front horse in a line always has his ears forward. The last horse always has his ears backwards. The ones in between always have their ears sticking out the side.In doing this the horses have put up a 360 degree listening zone.

Interesting but true lol.

That makes perfectly good sense! I am riding tomorrow morning and I now plan on watching the ears my horse doesn't have (because they were either chopped of accidentaly or removed by someone who wanted to do mounted archery right?) I'm riding a mare so I will have LOTS of ears to watch <grin>

I certainly hope so! If you don't you're going to get a crash course in horse anatomy at Leeds. We can't have a valet who doesn't know horses have ears!!
