So i visited the Charles the bold exhibition today, loved it overall and if you can visit it, do it, some pieces are from the first time out of switserland!

they also sell the catalogue, and wow! quite a lot of pictures, a lot of wall carpets and paintings, jewelry and other things (armours, etc)
the book is 382 pages and it is published by the Mercator fund. There are 440 pictures in colour in it.

Since i know some of you oversea guys might like it, i asked if they could do oversea shipping. They said they could but that it would be costy because it's a heavy book.

The book offers a never before published and complete view of the burgundian history.

a brief overview of the content:

BACKGROUND
-family tree
-the dukedom of burgundy (this shows how the borders changed under each ruler)
-philips the good and isabella of Portugal
-charles the bold
-Maria of burgundy
-Frederik II and maximilaan I

ESSAYS
4 essays, trying to read them al as soon as i can but since i almost had no sleep it won't be for today

THE BURGUNDIAN COURT UNDER FILIPS THE GOOD (1419-1467)

CHARLES LE TRAVAILLANT:ADMINISTATION AND TRADE UNDER CHARLES THE BOLD

ART AND SOULHAIL???; CHARLES THE BOLD AND MARGARETA OF YORK AS EMPLOYERS

PARTIES AND CEREMONIES

WAR INSTEAD OF DIPLOMACY (1474-1477)

THE hABSBURGERS

this is just a brief content because i don't want to break any copyright things

so far this book is the best collection of information about burgundy i've found collected so i advise it for everybody!

here's the official site of the exhibition:
http://www.kareldestoute.info/en/homepage.html

the catalogue is available there and they also gave me an email adress to which you could write if you're interested in the book

sandra.janssens@brugge.be
i hope some of you are able to make it to the exhibition because it's a must have been thing imo.

with your ticket you can also visit the grave of charles the bold and maria of burgundy in the church nearby

hope this topic is usefull to somebody

Bob and I have both the German and English versions of the catalog through the link below the S&H shouldn't be that horrendous.

English version of the Splendour of the Burgundian Court.

I'm a little disappointed that the exhibition is only touring three locations in Europe and not coming to the States.
