I was always taught J'ai = I have.

I've never heard the other definitions of Emprins applied to Charles the Bold's motto.

Emprendre v (1160) 1. Entreprendre, prendre, l'initiative de, organiser. 2. Emprendre +inf., commencer à, se mettre à.
<>emprenant adj. Entreprenant, hardi.
<>Empri(n)se n.f. 1. Enterprise, projet. 2.Prouesse: De grans bachelieres et de hardies emprises (Froiss). 3. Expédition militaire. 4. Action, combat. 5. Restraindre son emprinse, modérer ses avances, ses ardeurs.

Yep!

J'ai = I have,
Je l'ai = I have it
Je l'ai empreint = I have engraved/marked it

According to my old-french dictionary
"empreigner" means "to concieve" (to make someone become pregnant or to become pregnant)(1125,Ps. & 13th c. Fouque de Candie)

"empreindre" to engrave (1190, Saint-Bernard)

The Singing is still in my head

The next time I come I hope to have a better handle on my French, but I did understand a little of what was being said but I did not speak that much French for fear of butchering the language.
Some of the folks were thinking that teaching me to cuss in French would help pick up it up faster.
I learned how to cuss in Spanish and it just screwed me up a lot , I've said in the past something about some buddies mother a big insults that could get you killed in Mexico , when I meant to say Cinco de Mayo 5th of May.

Jenn how do like Rosetta Stone I’m thinking of picking it up.

Oh here’s Black Knigth Armor blued Gothic harness made by Francois L’Archeueque.

ps; It is not "J'ai", it is "Je l'ai" the "l'" referring to a thing... meaning "I have ---- it"
