Calendar for 2006 Tournament of Love and Beauty February 18, 2006
Loudoun County Fairgrounds
Leesburg, VA
This is an SCA event we have been invited too. It is a Tournament in the style of King Rene of Anjou. We are invited so we can add to the historical flavor of the event. Here is the description from there site:
The time is 1471 in England...
In honor of the Feast Day of Saint Aldobrandini, the Barony of Ponte Alto is holding a passage of arms that exemplifies chivalric love and honour, both on and off the field, as can be found in the ballads and tourneys of the 15th century, including King Rene of Anjou's Book of Love and The Book of the Tourney.
The winner of the heavy tourney will "crown" their consort the "Queen/King of Love and Beauty". The winner of the rapier tourney likewise, will "crown" their consort the "Princess/Prince of Love and Beauty." Aside from the overall combat champion, all rapier and heavy fighters will be vying for prizes won by displaying any of the 7 knightly virtues: Courage, Justice, Mercy, Generosity, Faith, Nobility, Hope.
