I would like to announce that on March 31-April 2 the Renaissance Military Society is hosting "The School of the Renaissance Soldier: Actions of the Lowe Countries", as well as an IJA Joust Clinic which will be taught by our own Jeff Hedgecock. The location is near Sacramento, California in the Sacramento Delta region(thus "The Lowe Countries").

The Clinic will take place on March 31, at the same time as various other classes, such as a class in George Silver's treatise on the broadsword taught by Nathan Barnett of la Academia della Spada (of Seattle).

The rest of the weekend will be devoted to the training of soldiers, both Foote and Horse, in the intricacies of 16th and early 17th Century drill. Last year's event was quite successful, and we are hoping for an even better turn-out this year.

As far as Horse is concerned, there shall be made available a number of rental horses for folks traveling long distances, or who don't own their own. Arrangements must, of course, be made well in advance, and interested parties are welcome to contact me concerning this.

For further information please attend to our website at: http://home.earthlink.net/~nebbo/cav/

Thank you,

Gordon (AKA Rittmeister Frye)

Greetings;

Sadly, due to problems with the site, logistics, and insurance issues, we are not going to be able to offer the jousting clinic on Friday March 31 as announced. We will, however, be doing some intensive mounted skill-at-arms training with lance, sword and pistol, and setting up a skill-at-arms course using all of the above. So although the focus will perforce change somewhat, it still ought to be educational and enjoyable. It sadly won't be joust-focused at this point, unfortunately.

The School of the Renaissance Soldier, scheduled for April 1 and 2, will still be taking place, with it's training of both Horse and Foote in Renaissance Battle Drills.

I wish to thank Jeff for the effort he has put into this, and hopefully we'll be able to put together a "destination event" sort of joust clinic taking an entire weekend, in some central location on the West Coast in the near future.

My sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused anyone, and my thanks for your patience.

Gordon
