Well it's been fun and nine years has been a relatively good run as far as things go. But I think that given our board has given folks ideas to spawn their own, there's too much replication of effort, so I it's time to go.

Dear Chef and Jenn --
This is a wonderful board -- I visit it all the time for interesting viewpoints and ideas. I'm sorry it's going to be shut down.
Thanks very much for many great years!

We've just seen the contribution activity die off to a "drop" and we wondered if it was of any value any more. If it is, we'll just leave it online as a resource.

Would there be a way to "archive" the information here so that it's preserved but doesn't require the work of administering a "live" forum?

awww I will be sad to see it go, too. I hope you'll consider keeping an archive for information.

Same here. I'll be sad to see it go and lose the resource (unless you keep it as an archive...).

As you mention duplication of effort... can anyone suggest boards where one might find likeminded people? It's lonely for those of us without a proper group... :/

Problem with history is that the world keeps marching forward.

Since you and Bob are discussing the topic here, it can continue here, or you can repost it to the AA.

'Tis sad to see it go, have had many fun times here, it was good to find a US board that wasn't dominated by the SCA.

We're leaving it up, there's just been so little interaction that we weren't sure if it was needed.

So if folks still feel like sharing, feel free.

Thanks for the link! However, that seems to be English history only, and I was more interested in the broader European picture.

Glad you're not taking this down. I think the archives are a very good resource! Such a shame it's not longer active!

Hi Marianne

Yes being English and due to my/our (I'm co-admin there) world history knowledge not equating our knowledge of ole blighty, my site does revolve around England (and Scotland/Ireland & Wales), but if my membership grew with more European content, I'd be happy to add more boards.

It all depends upon how my site evolves. Anyone is welcome to post on the 'World History' board I do already have there though.
