Greetings all!

Been awhile sine I've activly posted here. My appologies on that. I
plan to be more active in the future and look forward to seeing you
all at the Texas Ren Fair weekend.

Now, on to the reason for this post:

My hauberk has gone to **** , rust wise, over the summer. To help with
my conditioning training during the hot months I have taken to
wearing a lamallar chest piece over my hauberk. It's like working out
with a weighted vest. The main draw back is the hauberk cannot dry
naturally while the lamellar is over it so it rusts as you wear it
due to the fact that the sweat is trapped between you and the
backside of the lamellar. As such, I have a very bad patch of rust
going from hip to shoulders, front and back.

Normally I would pass this on to Blaec (my squire) who would bead blast it but
that option is not available right now. Sand blasting is too damaging
to the metal. Pits the metal like crazy and I have the pitting to
prove it. In searching for a quick and easy way to clean rust (as I
am lazy and have not the time to tumble chain in barrels) I stumbled
upon a product that has really impressed me. Yes, it sounds hoaky but
it really does wotk:

Evapo-Rust: http://www.theruststore.com/Evapo-Rust-Gallon-P1C1.aspx?
gclid=CLSYh539no4CFReQGgoduRZeYg

I was skeptical as hell but so far, I am very impressed. It cleaned
my Very heavily rusted hauberk in 2 hours of soaking. It also
promised to protect from 'Flash Rusting'. It also promised to protect
the metal for at least 2 weeks after treatment.

For those of you who have never cleaned your mail with a caustic acid
like Muratic acid or less caustics like vinegar or Coke, flash
rusting occurs when a metal is clean with an acid and exposed to
something like, oh say, air. I had this problem constantly when
removing the galvinazation from Indian produced mail and could never
find a good solution around this problem.

Apparently Evapo-Rust is the key.

For those of you who know me, you know that I am not one to blindly
promote any product and this email certainly sounds like a promotion.
All I can say is, this Sh@t works and I have the hauberk to prove it.

If you have any questions about this stuff, shoot me an email and
I'll letg you know how my test trials are going. If you are
interested in trying this stuff, you can find it at Auto Zone or
O'Reily auto parts (in the U.S.) in the paint/bondo section.

Good luck. Let me know if this stuff works for you.

HI Greenshield,

Thanks for posting about what sounds to be a very useful product - we will have to check it out.
