Hi Guys,

I'm not quite of the station of John Howard, even when he was plain old Sir John, but I've put together a list of things that I will make or aquire, some of which I already have. I think it's appropriate for a 'captain' of 5-6 lances (the lowest ranking officer in the Burgundian army). Let me know what you think. I've asterixed stuff I'd be making

A coffer* for my harness (Jeff will be busy filling it for a while)

A bench chest* for my clothes which will consist, when all things are said and done of ...iiii doublets, iiii hosen, vi pair shirts, do. braies, a long gown trimmed with fur, two short gowns, one trimmed with fur (I reckon I don't rate anything more elaborate than a brocade, and did I mention that Gwen will also be busy over the next couple of years?) ii pair shoes (one poulains), one pair arming boots, one pair riding boots

A smaller chest* for odds and ends of my current harness, a brigandine*, i 'sallet' 'garnished with gold', my stray arms, gusstes, arming doublet, etc.

Folding stool, ii 'forms'*,

a gavardine* containing iiii spoons of silver, a silver cup, ii pewter trenchers, an ewer, a silver salt*, also various pitchers, etc that are ceramic and probably would hardly rate a mention because not as costly as the others. If I can ever find a pewterer to make the ewer I want, I'd get a flagon and a costrel/flask as well. My God, I almost forgot ! Something for devotions, either a tryptic or maybe a statuette of a saint to go on a stand - maybe both (I'm not talking something as elaborate as the Johnne Donne altarpiece).

A fardle wit a fedder bed (a take down slat bed for the frame), bed linens, blankets, and maybe a fur coverlet or quilt (seen mention of a quilt in some inventory, but I have no idea what a medieval one would look like)

Some odds and ends I can't think of what container I'd put them in - a copybook*(containing the 1471 & 1473 ordanances, a calender for 1471, exchange rates - a miscellaney really), a hanging oil lamp, a small trestle*, a writing slope*, a brass or pewter candlestick, a traveling pen & ink set, a set of waxed tablets, a tapestry materiel wall haning, a painted wall hanging*. A brazier.

Oh yeah, a pavilion/marquis on the order of the one Jeff & Gwen have to pack it all into. Lots of little odds and ends I didn't bother to mention - horses & tack & etc.

What do you think so far? I don't want to over-reach my station (actually, advancement would be the primary goal of my 'persona'). I do want to look the part of an officer. I think I am on the right track, but as always, I am open to suggestions

And I thought Jeff brought too much stuff!!!

Man Bob, I'm glad I'm not married to you! That is a heck of a lot of stuff to drag around to an event.

Just looked over the list again- you're going to want a urinal or chamber pot.

Ah, since you brought it up, Gwen, would a 14thC urinal be very different from the 15thC ones you offer?

Almost all of our pottery references classify most items in 100-year chunks- i.e. "14th and 15th C", as opposed to "1457".

I'm no expert on pottery, but I believe that there was a good deal of date overlap in pottery styles. At this moment all of the styles of pottery that we offer have at least a 50-year slop in the date of use. Depending on the actual date you're shooting for, the urinal should be fine for 14th C.

Yep, you missed it. It was in the paragraph listing not the actual itemized list.
