Hello,

You might want to contact the International Jousting Association (IJA). They may be able to help you find someone near you.

I'm pretty sure the IJA doesn't have any representation in eastern Europe at present. There is some in Norway and Sweden, but that's it as far as I know for Europe.

I think a better alternative would be the European Jousting League, which is much more active and more likely to have someone in your area already, or at least soon.

Good luck.

Already tryed it but nothing. On the other hand Im just at the beginning I learn horse riding and weapon handling just now and its quite slow cause I dont have enough time to practive. I just hope itll change in the future.

btw Jeffrey Ive heard many times that you are one of the best armourers well I can hardly judge it comparing armour quality cause Im only beginner though for me it looks great.

Id also like to start armour making just as hobby for now Im gathering equipment books and material needed though Im not sure about how to make armour patterns. Id like to be able to make my own though Im still not sure how to do this. Would be there any difference between for example pattern for different gorgets or would it be about the same fitted to the same person?

Well I really like italian gothic harnesses of about 1440 up maybe its not true but I find it much easier to make than german gothic or rennaisance harnesses.

Thanks for the compliment on my armour.

Sorry you didn't have any luck with EJL You should email Fred Piraux and talk to him. He's very nice.

The short answer about armour patterns is...if two pieces -look- different, they probably have different patterns, whether it's two gorgets, two breastplates, two helmets, etc.

When armour is made correctly, there is very little of it that is "easy". Earlier armours, while they don't usually have a lot of fluting, make up for the difficulty in other ways. Just because something doesn't have a lot of detailed embellishments doesn't mean they're simple or easy. Oftentimes, the fewer the embellishments, the more possibility exists for flaws in the shaping or smoothness to show, so properly contouring and planishing the plates becomes absolutely crucial.

Again, no properly made armour is "easy".

Well already done seemes like its impossible to find someone in Slovakia though I think therere few people that ride and maybe do a little jousting but its very few and absolutely not in my region.

For now I tryed only chainmail and now Im thinking about something not so complicated to practice a little before Id be able to do something usable though it everything looks quite hard to do. Well but absolutely Id say Im rather kind of person that could make smooth surfaces that all the artwork like lillies on cuirasses.
