Jenn,I would like to add my compliments on the website. I'm the webmaster for two hobbist websites and I know how much work it is to do a good one; and how atrocious most hobby websites are. <clap, clap, clap> Mine are not nearly as nice as yours.
Regarding sword swinging: I think I hold my own. I attribute my interest in archery and horses to the fact that half of my genes are Polish. :-) Since there aren't a lot of opportunities to be a mounted archer around here, I just couldn't pass it up. However, historical fencing has been a passion for a long time too. I bought my first two original swords in London in 1967 and it's been all down hill from there. (Still remember that I paid 12 quid for the first one. The exchange rate back then was $2.40 US to 1 Pound Sterling.)
I was one of the three original members, along with Jeffrey Forgeng and Patri Pugliese, of the study group that later evolved into the Higgins Armory Sword Guild. The three of us put on the first historical combat demonstration at the Higgins almost nine years ago. I also was in the first I.33 demo at the Higgins and I choreographed and presented the original Meyer's halberd demo. (By coincidence, one of your other new members, Kent, was in that halberd demo with me.)
And then there is 17th-century Dutch pike drill and 19th-century French bayonet fencing. But I guess that doesn't count as sword swinging. :-)
Anyway, the stuff Wolf Argent does is something I've wanted to do for over 40 years. It's very exciting to finally be able to do it.
Best Regards,
Paul
