Hello all- With the decision to shut down the IJA-USA Chapter, Jeff and I now have time to devote to jousting on a more local level. With that in mind we're rolling "Chevalier" out of mothballs and shaking some life into it, beginning with the restart of monthly Knight School training sessions.
"Chevalier" is a living history/jousting group, nominally centered on the household and activities of Jehan de Haynin and his half brother Colart de Vendigies. de Haynin was the Lord of Louvignes, a jouster and military leader most active during the period 1460-70's, therefore Chevalier's scenario is centered in Burgundy during this period. We are actively soliciting for new members, so anyone interested should please feel free to email us an enquiry at jousting@historicenterprises.com.
"Knight School" is a monthly training session devoted to the schooling of horse, rider and support staff. We'll work with at all levels of experience, from rank novices to skilled jousters. Knight School will resume March 4-5, 2006.
Jeff was deeply impressed by the camaraderie and enthusiasm displayed at the Taupo tourney. It reminded him how much jousting is about fraternity and fellowship, facts that got buried while he was acting as the IJA's US Secretary. He came home full of stories and infused with renewed fervor get things rolling here. We look forward to moving ahead with our fledgeling IJA group, and hope to be able to put on a tournament in the near future.
