I noticed that hauptfrau had given the Decameron as a resources on her commercial site, so I though I'd order a copy. What a wilderness!

Can anyone here recommend one or two particular translations/editions that have appropriate artwork with the text?

The copy of the decameron I work from is

"Boccaccio's Decameron"
15th C. Manuscript
Text by Edmond Pognon
Translated by J. Peter Tallon
Miller Graphics
Designed and produced by Productions liber SA
©Productions liber SA, and Editions Minerva SA
Fribourg - Geneve, 1978
Printed by Printer Industria Grafica
Barcelone, Espagne

There is, regretably, no ISBN.

It should be noted that the illos in this copy were done between 1430-1440, not 1360.

If you're looking for a very readable translation, I think the best one is the translation by Richard Aldington. I had 4 others before I found this one and this is the best, without a doubt.
