I may have a chance to buy the books listed below. Could people who own or are very familiar with any of these books please let me know what their fair market value is in "as new" condition and if you think they are worth the price as armour reference books. Also if I could get a very brief summary of what each book covers that would be very helpful.

L'Armeria Reale Di Torino - by Mazzini & others - 1982

Armi e Armature Lombarde - by Boccia, Rossi & Morin - 1980

L'Arte Dell'armatura In Italia - by Boccia & Coelho - 1967 - comes with a seperate 250 page english translation of the text

Armi e Armature Italiane - by Aroldi - 1961

Thank you for any information you can give.

Earlier this year books from the collection of an armour scholar were offered for sale by Ken Trotman Ltd. The prices these books were listed for are below. They may be slightly inflated due to the nature of the sale. However, it is extremely difficult to find these books for sale. Prices are in British pounds.

L'Armeria Reale Di Torino - by Mazzini & others - 1982

£125

Armi e Armature Lombarde - by Boccia, Rossi & Morin - 1980
£150

L'Arte Dell'armatura In Italia - by Boccia & Coelho - 1967 - comes with a seperate 250 page english translation of the text
£300 - signed copy, no mention of a translation

Armi e Armature Italiane - by Aroldi - 1961

Craig-

I saw that Zanetto gave you a pretty comprehensive answer to this question over on the AA, and that's good.

The only thing I can add which you may find useful is that Jeff has made photocopy duplicates of his expensive armour books (like the della Grazi book) which he put into binders and uses as the "shop copy". He refers back to the pictures in these books constantly when he's making a piece, and having a "shop copy" eliminates the worry about ruining an expensive book with dirty fingerprints.

He will also photo-enlarge his reference photos and affix them to a piece of plywood. The plywood gets propped up on his bench so he always has the reference material in front of him as he works. Saves time and guesswork.

Thanks for all the information and advice. I'm still waiting for the guy who owns these books to name a price.
